... Lugongolweni bucopho rivals become ‘good friends’

-

MATSETSA –They may have been political foes during the recent national general elections, but have turned into buddies with the common goal of serving their community.

This is the interesting story of Lugongolweni Constituency Bucopho duo of Mpendulo Simelane and Mbekwa Maziya. Maziya was the Bucopho for this Constituency during the 2018 parliament term, but lost out to Simelane during the elections for the current parliamentarians. However, instead of becoming bitters foes as many might have expected, the two have decided to put their political rivalry aside for the benefit of their community.

On Tuesday morning, they both fully participated in the project undertaken by their MP, Joseph Souza to fix the bad road in Matsetsa. Both also confirmed to this publication that they enjoyed a good working relationship.

“We communicate on a regular basis on issues affecting our community and how best they can be resolved. What happened during the elections is in the past now, we are working as a team to develop our community. Holding grudges is never a good idea,” Simelane said. Maziya echoed these words, stating that losing the bucopho position will not stop him from sharing development ideas with Simelane.

Mature

“It is never a nice feeling to lose elections but you have to be mature about it and not allow it to cloud your judgment on issues. I will support the new bucopho whenever needed, because we both want what is best for our community,” Maziya said. He also promised to continue availing his services for the Lugongolweni community every time when needed. “The objective should be to develop our community without worrying much about who is in Parliament. Let us support each other at all times, especially the people we elected into Parliament,” he appealed.
