XOLELWA RECEIVES AWARD CELEBRATING WOMEN IN DUBAI
Fine artist, Xolelwa Malinga’s exceptional talent took centre stage at an esteemed exhibition in Dubai, where she was bestowed with a prestigious award celebrating women as impactful artists in the field of art, a testament to her unwavering dedication and artistic prowess.
The exhibition, a celebration of artistic ingenuity, served as a platform for Malinga to showcase her captivating creations. Her exceptional contributions to the world of art were recognised, as she was honoured with the distinction of being chosen as an ambassador for her country, a role that resonated deeply with her commitment to representing her cultural heritage through her art. It is worth noting that this exhibition took place between March 5 to 8. In her own words, Malinga shown excitement and gratitude as the exhibition and experience was profound. “It went great. Opening night for the exhibition was a success, it was open to the public but the sponsors were there amongst other art collectors. There was a conference we are we listened to and asked some professionals questions, curators, other artists, practitioners. There was an educational tour at one of the shakes castles with a live painting session. Then during the gala event on the last day is where and when I received my award,” highlighted Malinga.
OVER 1 500 TICKETS SOLD FOR MAHAMBA GORGE ARTS FESTIVAL
The upcoming Mahamba Gorge Arts Festival to be hosted on April 26 – 28 at Mahamba has sold over 1 500 tickets so far. This was revealed by the Public Relations Officer for the event, Nathi Msibi who mentioned how ticket sales were going well so far. “We have received great reception for the upcoming three day festival and ticket sales are booming,” said Msibi. It is worth noting that Mahamba Gorge will be celebrating 10 years and this festival will also be aimed at celebrating that. The annual Choral Music Competition, which is to be held on May 26 at Esibayeni Lodge, has shown growth in producing international stars from the country. Yet again, Standard Bank has sponsored the completion with one third of a million for this year’s competition. The bank has partnered with the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs through the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture and the executive committee of the Eswatini Choral Music Association to bring the exhilarating Choral Music Competition.
