‘Allah will reward all people according to deeds’
EZULWINI - “Wealth will be forgotten in one-second test in hell.”
This is what Imam Leonard Mupeta told over 1 000 Muslims, who were gathered at Ezulwini Islamic Centre over the weekend.
The Muslims, who came from different places across the country, gathered at the mosque for breakfast and shared experiences, lectures and expectations after Ramadan.
They came from Nhlangano, Mhlangatane, Mpaka Refugee Camp, Msahweni, Pigg’s Peak, Luhlangotsini, Manzini, Mbabane and Ngculwini for the event known as Mass Iftar for Eswatini. The first-of-its-kind event was funded by the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema in Eswatini. The foundation originates from Morocco and is meant for African Muslim scholars, who have branches all over Africa.
Judgment
Mupeta told the Muslims that Allah would reward all people according to their deeds. He said those who boasted about their wealth and lived desirable lives without God would get their due reward on judgement day.
“Prophet Mohammed once made an example of a person who lived a desirable life without God. The prophet said the person had everything that one may think of. When the person resurrected, he was placed in hell for a second. When asked about things that he enjoyed on earth, it turned out that he had forgotten everything because of the place he was in,” Mupeta said.
He added: “A person who suffered a lot on earth had a lot to celebrate after resurrection.” Mupeta warned the
Muslims to understand the entire test they went through without allowing the devil to find a place in their hearts. He made an example about hunger, stating that at times, people might go without food because they were being tested. He said having no food did not warrant one to steal to survive. He said
some tests were meant for endurance, so that people could be rewarded after resurrection. “We have been fasting during the month of Ramadan, so that we can teach ourselves patience, kindness and tolerance. We have learnt not to allow anger to control our emotions even if provoked. We have learnt not
to insult those who wrong us. Nothing has changed even after Ramadan, as you are all encouraged to keep the momentum and live the holy life,” he said.
Fight
Mupeta also advised the Muslims to prepare themselves for a big war after Ramadan. By the big war, he said he meant the fight against all desires that came with the flesh. He said participating in Ramadan did not mean one was immune from life challenges that people faced daily. He made an example about sicknesses, hunger and family disputes, among other things, stating that they would continue to be a challenge. However, he warned the Muslims against worrying about anything and concentrate on salvation, which he said was above all.
