Call for Shiselweni stadium

- BY MACHAWE FAKUDZE

MBABANE – “We urge your company to build a stadium for the region.”

These were the words of the 2023 Build it Under-13 Football Development Programme Best Player Wenkhosi Dlamini’s father and businessman Sibusiso ‘Sbu and T’ during the E10 000 bursary presentation for the youngster.

The event was attended by the Eswatini Football Association (EFA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frederick Mngomezulu, Shiselweni Regional Football Association (SRFA) Chairperson Nkhosinathi ‘Zoro’ Kunene and Build it Human Resources Manager Gladwin Hillary, was held at the Nhlangano store on Tuesday.

Dlamini, who had come to witness the school bursary for his son, thanked the hardware store for partnering with EFA in their drive to unearth future local football stars.

“I would also like to thank all the other stakeholders who are working tirelessly in identifying the raw talent at grassroots level and Build it is giving them the opportunity to expose their talent at a tender age,” Dlamini said.

He also thanked the company for giving back to the community, which showed that they appreciated the support they got from their customers through football.

Income

“My plea from Build it is to build a stadium for the region, which I think, would also help them to generate income through leasing it. They would also enjoy getting the naming rights of calling it the Build it Stadium,” Dlamini said.

Meanwhile, the SRFA chairperson welcomed the idea by Dlamini of a stadium, but he said they would send a proposal to Build it to help them improve the King Sobhuza II Memorial Stadium to meet international standards.

On another note, Hillary said he could not comment on the request for now as he was sent to present the bursary to the Home Affairs FC player.
