This will create job opportunities - MP

MBABANE – Gege MP believes that there completion of the road will result in the creation of job opportunities for residents of his constituency.

The Member of Parliament (MP), Agrippa Dlamini, expressed gratitude to government for finally completing the road. He said as MPs they were judged by what they did while in office as well as what developmental projects that were done by government and donor funded which reflected positively or negatively on them as the public representatives.

Dlamini mentioned that the construction of the road was the first step towards bringing development to communities. Dlamini pointed out that the construction of the Nhlangano-Sicunusa Road has attracted investment as more factory shells were being constructed, the latest being the Jonsson Workwear.

He said the convenience of the road was what attracted investment in the area which, in turn, created jobs for residents. He said it was now easy for people to travel from Nhlangano through Gege to Sicunusa and connect with other regions of the country .

Adding, the MP said they were hopeful that the road would continue to bring more development in the communities along the road. He said this was what service delivery was all about and stated that as Gege constituents, who are around the centre of the road, they were hopeful that the road would result in the development of the area.

“Our prayers as constituents, we hope that in the near future, we will have our own factory shell in the area so that residents do not have to travel long distances to work because the little they earn ends up being spent on transport,” he said.

The legislator pointed out that currently, the factory shells and timber companies which offered the large proportion of job opportunities in the country were situated around Nhlangano and there was not much activity of such job opportunities around Gege.

The legislator further added that between Mankayane and Nhlangano, there was not much development along the road and they were hopeful that government would assist and bring investment in the area to create job opportunities.

The MP also mentioned that there was also a need for a filling station at Gege since the currently was none and people had to travel to Nhlangano to get fuel.
