Thinking of Investing?

…choose Swaziland Building Society products

- BY VUMILE MAVIMBELA

SWAZILAND Building Society (SBS) has called upon emaSwati to invest money to secure their financial future.

The Society advises that for people to enjoy financial independency, it has to start with regular savings instantly. SBS has a variety of well-tailored products to cater for everyone’s investment needs.

The major benefits for saving money are long-term security, financial independence, stress-free life and ability to take calculated risks. SBS Manager Marketing Veli Dlamini said the available types of investments accounts were permanent shares, fixed deposit, prime linked deposit, special call, fixed period shares and subscription shares.

He explained that permanent shares were a long-term investment account which paid dividends at highly competitive rates. “It is suitable for both individual and institutional investors who have lump sums to save and want returns on their investments,” he said.

He said benefits of this account included a stake in the SBS shareholding, collateral for shortterm loans and no bank charges.

Dlamini stated that Fixed Deposit was a short or medium term investment for a deposit at a fixed interest rate for a fixed period of time ranging from three months to two years.

He said it can also be used as security for a short-term loan.

Dlamini further mentioned that the prime linked deposit account was aimed at rewarding corporate and institutional investors.

“Interest is comparable to that offered by money market rates and is linked to the prime-lending rate. Interest rates can be obtained at the nearest SBS Branch,” he said.

He said the benefits included an avenue for mopping-up large pools of short term funds from corporate and institutional investors.

Dlamini mentioned that the special call account was a short or medium-term investment for a deposit at a fixed rate of interest for a fixed period of time. He said it was a high interest short-term investment for large amounts that would otherwise be in current accounts or invested on low-interest call accounts. He said the interest rate offered in this account was higher than that offered by the sector for similar investment “in order to reward businesses for investing with the Society”.

The Manager Marketing also highlighted that fixed period shares presented a fantastic opportunity to earn high returns.

Dlamini said this product was for individual and corporate investors who wanted high yields. “This product offers a variable dividend interest rate which will be adjusted in accordance with movements in the market,” he said. On subscription shares, Dlamini described this investment account as an affordable short to long term investment product.

“After accumulating substantial savings, subscription shares are your gateway to higher earning investment products such as fixed deposits, permanent shares and fixed period shares,” he said. He said besides benefits such as good interest and no charges, this account could be used to accumulate a deposit towards school or tuition fees and purchase or renovations of a home.

Dlamini urged customers to any branches of the Society or call the contact centre on 2404 1313.
