- BY LINDOKUHLE MADLOPHA

MBABANE – The Lubombo Marathon is back with a bang as they have received a sponsorship of E20 000 from MulaSport. Just last month, the Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation (RES Corp) pumped in E65 000 for the Lubombo Marathon, where it was presented by the RES CSI Manager Phindile Dlamini, who handed the cheque over to TDZ Director and Athletics Eswatini (AE) President Zakhele Dlamini.

The Lubombo Marathon has since received another sponsorship of E20 000 from MulaSport. The AE president revealed that they were grateful of the sponsorships they had received from MulaSport and RES.

“We really appreciate the financial assistance we are getting from MulaSport and RES Corporation in making sure that this event becomes successful at all times. Through this race, we ensure that emaSwati keep their bodies healthy and strong. Our doors are still open for companies who wish to extend a helping hand towards this race,” Damini said.

REGISTERED

He stressed that participants who have already registered should keep time, as they would be having an electronic timing system. “This is a big and important race as our budget runs around E260 000. We still need support from companies together with their employees to help us in hosting this race. We just want to stress that we will be having an electronic system meaning people should keep time and stick to the race they have registered for,” he added.

Dlamini disclosed that the electronic timing system company was from South Africa and would be there to monitor and athletes will be able to access their results on the very same day from the system.

“Through the electronic timing system, participants will be able to access the results the same day. Race numbers are already available, for interested participants registration is still open and will close on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Race collection will take place on Saturday at Fitness Zone and Siteki Hotel starting from 9am until 6pm for those who have already registered,” said the AE president.
