Mixed fes­ti­val in Momi

The coun­try’s top vol­ley­ball ref­eree Jerry Cakau will of­fi­ci­ate at the Momi Mixed Vol­ley­ball Fes­ti­val at the Savusavu ground in Momi Bay, Nadroga.

The one-day fes­ti­val will be held this Satur­day and Fiji Vol­ley­ball Fed­er­a­tion pres­i­dent Elesi Ket­e­dromo is also ex­pected to be present. This was con­firmed by tour­na­ment or­gan­iser and pres­i­dent of Navosa Net­ball As­so­ci­a­tion, Judy Ku­mar. “We are happy to have them with us as it will en­cour­age our par­tic­i­pants,” Ku­mar said. “We are grate­ful to our spon­sors True Blue Ho­tel in Si­ga­toka for as­sist­ing us in giv­ing back to our com­mu­ni­ties in Savusavu through this fes­ti­val. “The pur­pose of or­gan­is­ing this fes­ti­val is to get the youths of Savusavu in­volved and help change their mind­set to build a bet­ter Fiji. “Be­ing orig­i­nally brought up in Savusavu as far as I know it would be af­ter 36 years that a mixed vol­ley­ball fes­ti­val has been or­gan­ised.” Ku­mar urged all ex-schol­ars of Savusavu Pub­lic School to come out to sup­port this wor­thy cause. “It is a very op­por­tune time also for fam­ily gath­er­ings as it will be held dur­ing the long Easter week­end.” Ku­mar said they tar­get to host 16 teams and all of them have sub­mit­ted their names. How­ever, they are yet to do the reg­is­tra­tion and the last day will be on March 23.

“We have at­trac­tive prizes to give away for the best dressed team, best male player and best fe­male player. The win­ner will walk away with $200 while the run­ner-up will get $100.”
