The country’s top volleyball referee Jerry Cakau will officiate at the Momi Mixed Volleyball Festival at the Savusavu ground in Momi Bay, Nadroga.

The one-day festival will be held this Saturday and Fiji Volleyball Federation president Elesi Ketedromo is also expected to be present. This was confirmed by tournament organiser and president of Navosa Netball Association, Judy Kumar. “We are happy to have them with us as it will encourage our participants,” Kumar said. “We are grateful to our sponsors True Blue Hotel in Sigatoka for assisting us in giving back to our communities in Savusavu through this festival. “The purpose of organising this festival is to get the youths of Savusavu involved and help change their mindset to build a better Fiji. “Being originally brought up in Savusavu as far as I know it would be after 36 years that a mixed volleyball festival has been organised.” Kumar urged all ex-scholars of Savusavu Public School to come out to support this worthy cause. “It is a very opportune time also for family gatherings as it will be held during the long Easter weekend.” Kumar said they target to host 16 teams and all of them have submitted their names. However, they are yet to do the registration and the last day will be on March 23.

“We have attractive prizes to give away for the best dressed team, best male player and best female player. The winner will walk away with $200 while the runner-up will get $100.”
