300 families helped by TISI Sangam

Then India Sanmarga Ikya ( TISI) Sangam chief executive officer Jai Narayan said the organisati­on visited affected members by Tropical Cyclone Winston and provided kitchen utensils to 300 families in the west. “And last Sunday (we gave out) kitchen utensils to 300 families in Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki,” Mr Narayan said. TISI Sangam secretary general Damend Gounder said the relief assistance was a part of the committee’s $300,000 earmarked for TC Winston Relief Fund. “School stationery packs were organised to be distribute­d and we estimated stationery pack cost per head for primary schools was $12 and secondary schools $22. “TISI Sangam Fiji to date have distribute­d 6000 packs of sta- tionery to schools in Ba, eight schools in Tavua, 20 schools in Rakiraki and six schools in Taveuni and Savusavu as well as hosted lunch for 16 schools from 1st March to date, 14 generators,” Mr Narayan said. TISI Sangam also has taken the responsibi­lity to rebuild all the Sangam temples and the assessment of damage work has already started for the temples. TISI Sangam has also set up a medical camp in associatio­n with Rama Krishna Mission to assist the TC Winston victims. Edited by Rusiate Mataika
