The Tailevu Rugby Union officials are aiming to fi nish the 2016 season on a positive note. Regarded as one of the most feared union teams in provincial rugby, works are already underway to rebuild the side. This time it’s under no-nonsense coach Samisoni Baikeitoga who is adamant of a positive outcome TRU secretary Sirilo Ramenatave said yesterday they have started their off season programme last year and have been playing warm-up matches with other union teams to prepare the players. “We have a new coach Samisoni Bakeitoga who was our Under-20 coach last year and has brought with him a few of our young talented players who will boost Tailevu this season,” he said. “The Tailevu squad was selected last year and have started our off season training programme. We played warm-up matches against Naitasiri and Namosi. We are planning for another friendly match with Namosi again before the Skipper Cup season starts,” Ramenatave said.

Tailevu play Nadi in their first Skipper Cup clash on April 23. “We are preparing well for that match, we have good potential players working with our new management who will help lift the level of performance for us,” he added.

Bolstering the men-in-green this season is the return of Vodafone Flying Fijian halfback Henry Seniloli. The TRU kicked start their season the first round of competition for their 12 premier teams at Sila Central High School in Vuci, Nausori yesterday.

“It was a good start for us, so far so good and all the 12 premier teams came prepared,” Ramenatave said.
