The Fiji Police Force are ad­vis­ing par­ents to take heed of the weather warn­ings. This comes af­ter Police wit­nessed chil­dren play­ing in flooded drains, roads and pud­dles un­su­per­vised in Labasa yes­ter­day. North­ern Di­vi­sional Police Com­man­der Se­nior Su­per­in­ten­dent of Police Shri Bhawan Singh said par­ents should watch over their chil­dren’s move­ment.

“Par­ents should see that their chil­dren are not play­ing in flooded drains, roads and pud­dles,” SSP Singh said. “Never un­der­es­ti­mate the power of the wa­ter cur­rent.

“Par­ents should talk to their chil­dren nicely and en­cour­age them to en­gage in ed­u­ca­tional ac­tiv­i­ties inside the house. “Our Police of­fi­cers are on the ground be­cause we con­tinue to mon­i­tor the weather situation. “Yes­ter­day I went around Macu­ata Prov­ince with my of­fi­cers to in­spect the wa­ter level situation and see how we could help our peo­ple.” Edited by Ru­si­ate Mataika
