New Vodafone Flying Fijians captain Sunia Koto will lead Fiji in the Pacific Nations Cup and World Cup qualifiers which kick off at the ANZ Stadium on Saturday. Fiji plays Tonga at 3pm.

Sunia Koto will lead the Vodafone Flying Fijians in the Pacific Nations Cup which is also a World Cup qualifier. The veteran hooker replaces Akapusi Qera, who is out due to club commitments in France.

He will be ably assisted by Leicester Tigers utility Vereniki Goneva and Glasgow Warriors lock forward Leone Nakarawa. “Koto has been a good servant for Fiji Rugby for more than a decade,”Vodafone Flying Fijians head coach John McKee said.

“He played in the 2007, 2011 and 2015 RWC and that’s a rare achievement. “We also have experienced campaigners in Goneva and Nakarawa in the leadership group. “We’ve a good team and we need to build from where we left off at the 2015 RWC. “We have new plans for the Flying Fijians but first we must play well in the PNC so that we qualify for the 2019RWC in Japan,” McKee said Nemia Soqeta, Nakarawa,Goneva, Campese Ma’afu, Viliame Veikoso and Leeroy Atalifo joined the team yesterday.
