New Voda­fone Fly­ing Fi­jians cap­tain Su­nia Koto will lead Fiji in the Pa­cific Na­tions Cup and World Cup qual­i­fiers which kick off at the ANZ Sta­dium on Satur­day. Fiji plays Tonga at 3pm.

Su­nia Koto will lead the Voda­fone Fly­ing Fi­jians in the Pa­cific Na­tions Cup which is also a World Cup qual­i­fier. The vet­eran hooker re­places Aka­pusi Qera, who is out due to club com­mit­ments in France.

He will be ably as­sisted by Le­ices­ter Tigers util­ity Vereniki Goneva and Glas­gow War­riors lock for­ward Leone Nakarawa. “Koto has been a good servant for Fiji Rugby for more than a decade,”Voda­fone Fly­ing Fi­jians head coach John Mc­Kee said.

“He played in the 2007, 2011 and 2015 RWC and that’s a rare achieve­ment. “We also have ex­pe­ri­enced cam­paign­ers in Goneva and Nakarawa in the lead­er­ship group. “We’ve a good team and we need to build from where we left off at the 2015 RWC. “We have new plans for the Fly­ing Fi­jians but first we must play well in the PNC so that we qual­ify for the 2019RWC in Ja­pan,” Mc­Kee said Nemia So­qeta, Nakarawa,Goneva, Cam­pese Ma’afu, Vil­iame Veikoso and Leeroy Atal­ifo joined the team yes­ter­day. Fiji plays Tonga 3pm on Satur­day at the ANZ Sta­dium.
