The suspension from Parliament of National Federation Party president Roko Tupou Draunidalo will be on top of the agenda in a committee meeting today in Malolo in Nadi, says party general secretary Bala Dass. Mr Dass said the suspension of Roko Tupou and the effects of the 2016-17 National Budget on the ordinary citizens will be extensively discussed at the NFP Working Committee. She was suspended from Parliament for the rest of her parliamentary term after the parliamentary privileges committee ruled her comments in Parliament created ill will and hostility amongst our communities. “The FijiFirst Government used its numerical majority in Parliament to pass the motion on June 3,” Mr Dass said. The NFP has already stated that her suspension was unjust and unfair. The meeting will explore and decide what options are available to Roko Tupou to seek redress. Party leader and shadow Minister for Finance Biman Prasad will also speak on parliamentary matters including the 2016-2017 Budget handed down on Wednesday. The Party leader has already expressed concern about the rising debt, which is expected to be 50.4 per cent of GDP next year. The meeting will adopt resolutions on major issues on our national political and economic landscape.

Today’s meeting gets underway at 10.30am and will be attended by delegates and members from the Party’s branches. Source: National Federation Party
