Man gets 7 years for raping ex-girlfriend

A 32-year-old man was sentenced at the High Court in Lautoka to seven years in jail for rape and common assault. Between April 13, 2013 and April 14, 2013 the accused raped his exgirlfriend and slapped her at his apartment after drinking alcohol. He appeared before Justice Aruna Aluthge. The accused must serve five years in jail before he is eligible for parole. He has been given 30 days to appeal to the Fiji Court of Appeal.
