THREE ROKO TUI APPOINTMENTS MADE

- MAIKA BOLATIKI Edited by Rusiate Mataika

The Ministry of the iTaukei Affairs has recently appointed three Roko Tui to be posted to their provincial offices. According to the Permanent Secretary Naipote Katonitabua the selection criteria was high and was happy that the three met the criteria. All three had university degrees which was beneficial for the ministry, he said. He said there would be changes in the provincial councils as there would be new postings to be made soon. Mr Katonitabua said the Roko Tui had a great responsibility to carry out especially with the reforms of the ministry. One of the reforms he said was on service delivery as the Roko Tui needed to improve on this. “They are there to serve and not to be served,” he said. The new Roko Tui should be in office before the provincial council meetings this year. The new appointees and their designated provincial appointments will be made later.

The Naitasiri Provincial Council meeting will be on August 4 in Vunidawa. The two-day meeting will discuss the new provincial council office and other developments in the province.
