Premier meets UN chief

CThe UN appreciate­s China’s contributi­on to preventing and mitigating disasters across the world and looks forward to China’s important role in realizing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainabl­e Developmen­t and tackling climate change.

hinese Premier Li Keqiang met with United Nations Secretary-General Ban Kimoon, voicing support for the work of the UN. China is committed to safeguardi­ng the internatio­nal regime with UN at the core and upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, Mr Li said.

“China will actively promote dispute settlement through peaceful dialogue and negotiatio­n, engage in internatio­nal cooperatio­n to address climate change and other global challenges and contribute to world peace and developmen­t,” Mr Li said. Praising Mr Ban’s contributi­on to UN-China relations, Mr Li stressed China firmly supports the work of the UN, safeguards UN authority and will integrate its own developmen­t strategy with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainabl­e Developmen­t. Mr Ban expressed sympathies to Li over the floods in south China, saying he believes the Chinese people will overcome the disaster under the strong leadership of the Chinese government.
