Man pleads guilty to five driving charges

Matter adjourned to August 19 for sentencing

A29-year-old will be sentenced next month by the Suva Magistrate­s Court after pleading guilty to five driving charges. Peni Vunikeba appeared before Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa has granted him a fresh bail of $500. Vunikeba is charged with a count each of: dangerous driving drunk and drive driving motor vehicle without drivers licence driving unregister­ed mo tor vehicle driving motor vehicle in contravent­ion of third party.

On July 16 Vunikeba allegedly drove a vehicle along Suva Street heading towards High Street when he lost control of the vehicle and collided into a post situated on the footpath. When Police questioned him he smelt of liquor and when the officer checked Vunikeba he was over the legal limit. Vunikeba pleaded guilty to all the counts. The matter has been adjourned to August 19 for sentencing.
