Ministry OK With Crowd Running to Dawasamu

People have testified they have been healed, felt better and that’s what we want, for people to feel better, says Dr Koroivueta.

The Ministry of Health has for the first time supported the hundreds of people flocking to the so-called healing waters in Natadravedrave Village in Tailevu. In an interview in Savusavu, the Acting Permanent Secretary for Health, Doctor Josefa Koroivueta said if the water was miraculous then they would leave it be as peoples’ wellness was priority.

“After all one of the famous doctrines is that above all do not do harm and if people are getting healing from that water, why disturb it?” Dr Koroivueta said. Many have attested to the healing of the water in recent weeks. “From the ministry we would like to say that people have testified that they have been healed, they felt much better and that’s what we want, for people to feel better,” Dr Koroivueta said.

“Maybe it is beyond our explanation and it is only right to leave it at that because right now people are still going there, our issue is to ensure that public facilities are available, in terms of conveniences. Not the water.”

He said the test that was carried out was to check if the water was safe for drinking and the Ministry had given the green light.

“The test that was done basically to look at the quality in drinking, not as the test that people perceived it to be because when it comes to healing I believe it is beyond science and scientific measure as to why people get better,” he said.

“The wonderful thing is that people have become better and that is what we want to see. “I think more to that we should thank the people of Natadradave, the chiefs, elders for allowing others to come and utilise the water.”
