Townspeople thrilled

The Vodafone Savusavu Hidden Paradise Carnival will start at 7pm tonight at Narain Park. Carnival spokesperson Pettine Simpson said they were ready for the event and were hoping for a positive turn out. “Sponsors and queens are all prepared and geared up for this event and the people of Savusavu are thrilled to be having our Savusavu Carnival event take place again after 32 years of non activity,” Ms Simpson said. “With the short timeframe that the new committee were given, it has been a mammoth task but assistance from a wonderful hardworking committee, the Savusavu town council, sponsors, volunteers, stakeholders, and the wonderful people of Savusavu who all pitched in have made the task at hand much easier.” The crowning is on Saturday. There are five contestants vying for the crown.
