F| FIJISUN.COM.FJ | iji Roads Authority is pleased to announce that another of Suva’s busy street will have an improved road surface as a result of the road renewal work that will start tomorrow. FRA general manager network operations and maintenance Aram Goes says that FRAs maintenance contractor for the Central Division, Fulton Hogan Hiways is currently establishing themselves onsite and the public can expect increased activity on Greig Street over the coming week. “Grieg Street was planned for renewals in 2017 however the project was brought forward in-line with the opening of the new FNPF building,” Mr Goes said.

“If everything goes according to plan, we should be in and out within a week. We remain hopeful that the weather is favourable and on our side. “There are no major utility service relocation works like water pipes and cables on Greig Street, however the public can expect some disturbance that will include dust and vibration from the use of heavy machinery.” | PAGE Mr Goes said FRA was closing Greig Street to all motorists from 6am tomorrow and the road will reopen at 6am on Friday, October 28 for the Diwali weekend.

“As a result of the level of activity and the use of heavy machines, Greig Street will remain closed for the duration of these road works. Motorists can continue to access the area from Raojibhai Patel Street through Vishnu Deo Street and onto Ellery Street,” Mr Goes said. “The work that Fulton Hogan Hiways are carrying out will include extra drainage outlets; ripping the existing seal; stabilising the road pavement; applying a fresh coat of seal to the surface of the road and a car park area.” Mr Goes said other busy city streets like Victoria Parade, Rodwell Road, Scott Street and Harris Road had undergone major rehabilitation works in the past and now had improved road surfaces for motorists to travel on.
