Labasa Hospital recognises staff
Seven staff members of the Labasa Hospital were presented the Best Month of the Employee Award. The awardees were four nurses, Kalpana Narayan, Sanjani Mala, Bhamini Narayan, Rakeshwar Prasad, lab technician Timoci Racolo, driver Sakaraia Vakatuturayani and physician Navjeet Kaur. Labasa Hospital medical superintendent Doctor Jaoji Vulibeci said they resumed with the special certificate presentation after a lapse of six years. “This year from April we began giving out this certificate,” Dr Vulibeci said. “Employees, including our drivers, are assessed in four categories which are absenteeism, attendance, disciplinary and punctuality. “The assessment is done by the head of departments. “The reason we do this is to acknowledge the work done by our dedicated workers and motivate others to do better in their working environment.
“This is in line with one of values which are public service focusing on achieving results, managing performance and providing a rewarding work place.
“At the end of this year we will give out the Best Employee of the Year Award.” Labasa Hospital manager nursing matron Tavaita Suraki felt proud since most award winners were her nurses. “I am really proud of my nurses and I thank them for their hardwork,” Ms Suraki said. “My nurses walk an extra mile to provide the best treatment to patients at the hospital. “I am happy that the hospital organises such kind of presentations which encourages everyone to provide the best service to our people.”
