PINK TO HAVE A SPECIAL SCREENING AT UNITED NATIONS

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s film Pink, which dealt with crime against women, has been invited for a special screening at the United Nations head quarters in New York. The 73-year-old actor, who plays a lawyer in the film, took to Twitter to make the announceme­nt. “PINK invited for a special screening of the film at UN Head Quarters, in New York .. by Assistant Secretary General .. honoured,” Amitabh Bachchan posted on Twitter. Pink, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, also starred Taapsee Pannu, Andrea Tariang and Kirti Kulhari in lead roles. It released on September 16.

The film is about three girls living in Delhi -Taapsee Pannu, Andrea Tariang and Kirti Kulhari – and how their lives change after coming face-to-face with gender violence. The film is a courtroom drama where the three and their lawyer (Amitabh Bachchan) are forced to face up to how Indian percieves its women.

Not just stars of Bollywood, the film managed to touch the hearts of every Indian. Baahubali star Rana Daggubati called the film “important for India.” He wrote on Twitter, “Just saw an outstandin­g and by far the most important film for this country!! #Pink.” Trade analyst Taran Adarsh agreed with him as he wrote, “Watched #Pink… Shocked. Stunned. Speechless… An OUTSTANDIN­G movie in every respect… Taut writing and exemplary direction…” Preity Zinta has already given Pink a five-star rating and wrote this on Twitter, “Preity Zinta Wow Just saw PINK ! The most RELEVANT film of this year. 5 Stars to all in this film & 500 Stars to @SrBachchan.” These kind of superlativ­e reactions are being shared by everyone who watched the film. Indian Express
