Bol­ly­wood megas­tar Amitabh Bachchan’s film Pink, which dealt with crime against women, has been in­vited for a spe­cial screen­ing at the United Na­tions head quar­ters in New York. The 73-year-old ac­tor, who plays a lawyer in the film, took to Twit­ter to make the an­nounce­ment. “PINK in­vited for a spe­cial screen­ing of the film at UN Head Quar­ters, in New York .. by As­sis­tant Sec­re­tary Gen­eral .. hon­oured,” Amitabh Bachchan posted on Twit­ter. Pink, di­rected by Anirud­dha Roy Chowd­hury, also starred Taapsee Pannu, An­drea Tar­i­ang and Kirti Kul­hari in lead roles. It re­leased on Septem­ber 16.

The film is about three girls liv­ing in Delhi -Taapsee Pannu, An­drea Tar­i­ang and Kirti Kul­hari – and how their lives change af­ter com­ing face-to-face with gen­der violence. The film is a court­room drama where the three and their lawyer (Amitabh Bachchan) are forced to face up to how In­dian per­cieves its women.

Not just stars of Bol­ly­wood, the film man­aged to touch the hearts of ev­ery In­dian. Baahubali star Rana Dag­gu­bati called the film “im­por­tant for In­dia.” He wrote on Twit­ter, “Just saw an out­stand­ing and by far the most im­por­tant film for this coun­try!! #Pink.” Trade an­a­lyst Taran Adarsh agreed with him as he wrote, “Watched #Pink… Shocked. Stunned.
