The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) appreciates the Fiji National University’s (FNU) recognition for conducting a successful election for the FNU Students Association (FNUSA) held last month. The token of appreciation was presented to FEO’s Returning Officer, Mesake Dawai, during the FNUSA inauguration at the Novotel Convention Centre in Lami last Saturday. The FNU Acting Vice Chancellor, Eci Nabalarua, said the university carried out this election in partnership with FEO to conduct a transparent poll to elect the inaugural FNU student body.

“The Fiji National University acknowledges the contribution of the Fijian Elections Office in facilitating the campus election and is grateful for a smooth and transparent election process,” said Ms Nabalarua. The FNUSA election marked the formalisation of months of preparatory work by the student steering committee and laying the foundation for the formation of the first ever student union within the university.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem commended Mr Dawai for his efficiency in handling the FNUSA Election. Mr Saneem would also like to convey his appreciation to the FNU and the FNUSA for inviting FEO to conduct elections for the various positions. “The FEO is a strong advocate in the electoral development of young Fijians with youths being one of our most important stakeholders,” Mr Saneem said. “The FNUSA Election provided us with an opportunity to promote understanding and participation of the best electoral practices amongst our young leaders.” Source: Fijian Elections Office
