Tourism Fiji to recruit regional manager, new team for Australian office
Tourism Fiji is currently in process of recruiting a regional manager to head their team in Australia. This was confirmed by the Tourism Fiji chief executive, Matthew Stoeckel, who added they will be appointing a new team to Australia in the first quarter of next year. “The new appointments are being made in order to rebrand and reposition Tourism Fiji in Australia,” he said. “The appointments have not yet been made and we are currently in the process of recruiting for a regional manager to head up the team,” Mr Stoeckel said. He said the team will be supported by a boosted workforce in their local office in Sydney. Mr Stoeckel further said the appointments will consist of both trade development related positions and consumer marketing specialists. The new recruits will work closely with the head office in Fiji to drive visitor arrivals, he added.
In addition, Mr Stoeckel said: “While Australia remained the largest market for Tourism Fiji, it provided tough competitions with countries like Bali and Thailand.” Therefore the appointments will explore the Australian market further and strengthen the market.
“Australia is our core or traditional market and it is 45 per cent of visitor arrivals,” he said. Mr Stoeckel said while this year the sector faced a lot of challenges, 2017 looked optimistic for the sector. Tourism Fiji for now is working to bring in new approaches and strategies to counter foreign markets. “We are also working closely with our tourism partners and the national Airline, Fiji Airways, to enhance the sector,” he said.
