Alleged impersonator further remanded
Aman who has a number of cases in court questioned the court about claims that were allegedly made by cell block officers. Binesh Kumar Raj told Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa that cell block officers had allegedly assaulted him, and accused him of rape and murder charges. Raj is charged with the impersonation of a health inspector and for obtaining financial advantage by deception among other charges.
Police prosecutor Corporal Sanil Kumar told the court that Raj had damaged the cell block light when he was being detained. Corporal Kumar further told the court Raj swore at the cell block officers and refused to listen to their instructions. Magistrate Boseiwaqa told Raj that he would adjourn the case for him to look for a private lawyer, after he withdrew Legal Aid representation.
Raj has three files with various charges against him.
File One
On Count one – Impersonation of a Health Inspector
It is alleged that on October 28, 2014, in Suva, Raj falsely represented himself as a health inspector and unlawfully inspected Golden Water Supermarket.
On Count two – Obtaining financial advantage by deception It is alleged that Raj obtained $200 and promised to issue Alan Feng a business licence.
Count three - Impersonation of a Health Inspector It is alleged that on November 7, 2014, in Suva, Raj falsely represented himself as a health inspector and unlawfully inspected Golden Water Supermarket.
Count two – Obtaining financial advantage by deception It is alleged that Raj obtained $1000 and promised to issue Alan Feng a business licence.
File two
Count one – Theft It is alleged that on February 10, 2015, Raj stole assorted items to the total value of $11,100 from a woman’s home in the central division.
For the last file Raj is charged for absconding bail since April 13, 2015. The case was adjourned to January 13 for plea.
