Three car accidents took place in Nadi yesterday.

In the first incident, five visitors from Australia escaped injuries after the vehicle they were travelling was involved in a crash. The accident happened near the Nadi International Airport intersection at around 6.30am yesterday. Police who were at the scene confirmed there were five passengers and a driver who were involved in the accident.

Police also said the visitors, who had visited their relative in Varavu, Ba, boarded their flight back to Australia unhurt.

It is alleged that the driver, a 21-yearold mechanic of Ba, misinterpreted the traffic lights. He was questioned by Police. In a separate incident, a man in his early 30s was rushed to the Nadi Hospital and later transferred to the Lautoka Hospital after the vehicle he was driving veered off the road and landed in a small creek in Barara flat, Nadi. This was also confirmed by Police. In a third incident at around 9am, a 22-year-old man was shaken, but unhurt after the vehicle he was driving veered off the road and landing in a slope at Malamala, off the Queens Highway. Driver Anish Singh was on his way from Sarava, Momi, to Korovuto, to pick up workmates in the company vehicle. Mr Singh’s employee, Kamal Prasad, owner of Risha Speed on Car Wash in Namotomoto, Nadi, said his driver was lucky to have escaped uninjured and he was deeply shocked by the incident.
