Pleass Global Limited and its premium brand, VaiWai artesian water have committed to a number of support mechanisms for the community locally, as well as throughout Fiji over the years. PGL managing director Cate Pleass said Pleass global developed a scholarship programme last year in order to provide for the local community around their factory site, and Kila Park in Namosi.

Mrs Pleass said the successful recipients of the scholarship would be provided school fees, boarding fees if it is a boarding school, text books and all personal equipment that they must take to boarding school.

The first student to achieve this scholarship was Adi Kelerea Batilekaleka Seruvatu. She was awarded her scholarship last Friday. She will be attending Adi Cakobau School.

“It provides an opportunity to allow some students to further their education, who perhaps may not be able to financial afford that under some circumstances,” Mrs Pleass said. “It is very important to us that we look after the people who directly work alongside us in our local community, but also the wider community. Like we work very closely with the Rotary Water For Life Foundation providing water and sanitation communities across Fiji . “But this is very much designed to assist our neighbours who work with us alongside in our community.

“We are going to further the scholarship programme to assist university education as well, but at the moment we are looking at the local community and high school students,” she said. Pleass Global Ltd managing director Warwick Pleass had announced that the company was initiating a scholarship programme in the Nabukavesi community, to encourage and support high school and university students.

The initiative began in June last year. The programme was designed to encourage and support young people to achieve their goals and assist in their education. Edited by Jonathan Bryce
