Gamel: We Work Together
The Rewa football team are serious in their preparation as they countdown to their first ever participation in the OFC Champions League. After playing Lautoka, the Delta Tigers travelled to Ba on Sunday to play a friendly match with the Vodafone national team.
Association president Nazeel Buksh said they have gone through several phases of preparation.
“We did light training in December, but since the start of this year we have picked up the tempo,” he said. “We came all the way to Ba just to play a friendly match with the national team and it shows how serious we are with our preparations for the Champions League
and also the start of the national league.”
Vodafone national football coach Christophe Gamel said he is willing to help both Ba and Rewa. “I will help our two clubs Rewa and Ba on their own objectives. I have seen the two presidents who are very humbled person and are open to this kind of work. “We have to work hand-in-hand,” Gamel said.
Rewa have the services of the three Brazilian players, centreback Galvao Maximo Diego, central midfielder Tannus De Oliviera Junior Marcelo and Silver Junior Elias who is going add more firepower in the striker’s position.
Buksh said they are adapting well to the environment and also to their style of play. “This was the reason why we brought them early, not just a few days or weeks away from the Champions League but two months before the kickoff. They’re adapting well to our way of play and contributing towards the improvement of our game.” Rewa are drawn in Group D and play Marist FC in their first game on March 11, then AS Tefana on March 17 before facing Erakor Golden Star in their final pool match.
