- Naisa Koroi

The success of the First Light Taveuni 7s team at the Mana Whey Coral Coast Fiji 7s last month has made a positive impression for the 7s selection team.

Their championship performance has seen one of their reps, Lemeki Tulele, 28, march into camp yesterday to join the Vodafone national 7s squad.

The squad is preparing for the Las Vegas and Vancouver 7s tournaments early next month.

Tulele is the playmaker for First Light Taveuni. He was also presented the Campese-Serevi medal at the Coral Coast Fiji 7s tournament.

First Light Taveuni playmaker Lemeki Tulele marched into camp with the Vodafone Fijian 7s squad at the Uprising Beach Resort in Pacific Harbour, Deuba yesterday. Tulele who was awarded the Campese-Serevi medal during the Mana Whey Coral Coast 7s last month told SUNsports that it was his first time to camp with the national 7s training squad. “I’m looking forward to playing with some of the well- known players,” said the 28-year-old. Fijian 7s captain Osea Kolinisau said they have a lot to work on after the four tournaments they have played in during the 2016/17 Series. “We are hoping to improve on our performance. It’s all about learning and we are going to learn from our mistakes. We sat down as a team and talked about what we could have done.” Nippy halfback Seremaia Tuwai didn’t go to camp because of a family commitment but will join them later in the week. Also making the team is 24-yearold, Josua Kuruinabili who hails from Vatukarasa and is part of the Wardens team. Army playmaker Josua Vici is happy to be part of squad again. “Last year Las Vegas was where I made my debut and I’m looking forward to make the cut and it will be a great tournament and also to have some new boys is a big boost and I’m looking forward to it,” Vici added.
