Four New Stations to Open Next Year
Jakarta Fire crew follow-up on Pact signed in 2014.
Four new fire stations will open early next year, says the National Fire Authority (NFA).
This was confirmed by NFA’s acting chief executive officer, Mileta Seniroqa, while making a presentation yesterday to a threemember delegation from the Jakarta Fire Department in Indonesia who visited Suva Fire Station at Walu Bay.
Ms Seniroqa said: “We are in the process of completing the construction of a new fire station in Savusavu and we are now on the verge of completing the necessary processes for the commencement of construction of the new fire station,” she said.
The four new fire stations are under construction in Rakiraki Town, Nabouwalu, Nakasi and Lami Town.
“These additional fire stations will demand the increase in manpower levels, enhancement of specialised skills of our people, provision of personal protective gear and specialised equipment and resources such as fire trucks, firefighting and rescue equipment, inflatable boats that will enable our people to carry out their roles efficiently and effectively,” Ms Seniroqa said.
The visit by the Jakarta Fire Department delegation follows the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between NFA and the Jakarta Fire Department in 2014.
Ms Seniroqa said the NFA had a lot to learn from this corroboration with Jakarata Fire Department.
Chief of Jakarta Fire Department Subejo was delighted to support NFA.
