Club Toyota will showcase more than 80 cars in the inaugural Pacific Energy Charity Car Show at the Suva City Council car park today. The car show will give drivers a chance to showcase their cars in 32 categories with 60 awards to be won.

Club Toyota president, Sandip Shanil Singh said they want to make the car show a family event but at the same time give people a chance to showcase their creations. “This is a place where people can show off their cars and what modifications they have done to it depending on what category they are a part of,” Singh said.

“We have 32 categories in total and it ranges from the type of engines to the wheels and the different paint jobs that have been done. I think it will be exciting to see how far people have gone with their vehicles and we know there have been other car shows but we want to take ours to a different level. We want to make it a family event, we will be organising dance items and also giving out prizes to the spectators who show up. I think it is a good combination, to bring families out to have fun and to do it in a different way by using cars. This will also give recognition to those who really take the time and effort to look after their cars or bikes.”

Funds raised at the event will be donated to Dilkusha Home and a portion will be given to the elderly citizens.

“It is important to note that this is a charity event, with Easter coming up we want to donate what we have raised to Dilkusha Home and to the elderly as well,” he said.

“The reason we chose to have a car show to raise funds is because we have seen the rise in the number of car enthusiasts. Cars are not just attracting men anymore it is now attracting women and we have seen the female interest grow as well as kids. So it is slowly becoming popular and we hope with this car show it will get more people into cars.”
