‘I also want to show my appreciation to the Fiji Society for the Blind, Department of Information and FBC for their commitment in this worthy course’
Sign language practitioners yesterday provided television viewers simultaneous interpretation of proceedings in Parliament. Speaker to Parliament, Dr Jiko Luveni said they would be interpreting Parliament sittings for all viewers across the country. However, she said that due to technical problems they weren’t able to provide the service in the February and March sittings.
“I am glad that Parliament is ensuring that information and communications in the Parliament sitting is also accessible to the deaf people,” Dr Luveni said. She said Parliament had worked tirelessly to enable that the service was successfully delivered in this week’s Parliament which would continue until Friday.
“In the last Parliament sitting due to technical challenges faced it was not possible,” he said.
