State asks for more time on three accused charged over lokia theft

State lawyer Shirley Tivao has asked for more time to file further disclosure­s in the matter of a former Police officer in the Criminal Investigat­ion Department (CID) and two others charged with theft at the Lokia Food City Supermarke­t.

Former Sergeant Amani Boseinawai, Meli Galu and Mausio Susau Dominiko appeared before Justice Thusara Rajasinghe yesterday at the High Court in Suva.

Ms Tivao told the court that they were still awaiting further documents from the Police like the CCTV footage. Boseinawai is represente­d by Samanunu Vaniqi, Galu is represente­d by Isireli Ramanu and Susau is represente­d by Abhay Singh.

Mr Singh told the court that he had filed a bail applicatio­n for Susau to which Justice Rajasinghe told him that there would be a bail hearing for it on April 28. Boseinawai, Galu and Dominiko are charged with a count each of conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary and receiving stolen property.

It is alleged that on February 26, all three accused conspired to commit aggravated burglary at the Lokia Food City Supermarke­t in Nausori. It is also alleged that on February 27, the three accused received stolen cash to a total value of $2500. Galu and Dominiko are further charged with a count each of aggravated burglary and theft.

It is alleged that on February 26, they stole cash to a total value of $117,630.25 and assorted cigarettes to a total value of $23,446.80, the property of Lokia Food City Supermarke­t. The case has been adjourned to May 11, for mention.
