The pegging and tender for lots of the proposed Nabouwalu Town is expected to be carried out in November next year.

Department of Town and Country Planning new town engineer Ishra Ali confirmed this during the Bua Provincial Council meeting yesterday.

Mr Ali said the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report was currently with the Department of Environment for approval along with the construction plan and views by stakeholders.

“We had also advertised the consultancy to carry out design works and engineering works of the town centre,” Mr Ali said. “This contract was signed last month and they will be here this week to carry out the geo-technical assessment and report. “They would need 28 days before they can present the report to the Department of Town and Country Planning.

“We will commence with the design phase once the geo-technical report is presented.

“This report will be used as a baseline to determine the engineering co-operatives of the roads infrastructure and the pavement and we are giving 50 days for the completion of the design.”

Bua Provincial Council chairperson Alipate Radrodro said there were plans for each of the nine districts to buy a lot each when the time comes.

“There has also been a pre-arrangement with the relevant authorities about this and I am urging the nine districts to fundraise for this so that when the time comes you would be able to purchase your lots,” Mr Radrodro said.

He also said funds raised at the Adi Bua Festival this year and next year would be directed towards the course.

Each district is expected to raise $40,000 for their lot.
