Tavarua Island Resort has been receiving guests on their latest upmarket Tavarua Villas since its opening last year.

The property, on a heart shaped island, is well known for its support for local communities, respecting Fijian culture, protecting the environment, and provides elite surf guiding services and safety protocols.

Managing Director Rick Isbell said: “The latest we built at the point is the new accommodation, a top reef villa, a little bit more upscale and we are trying to cater for the more luxurious upgrade market.”

The complex has two sections/ units together with a deck on top.

“It’s nice for yoga retreat and for corporate or people who have private meetings or family reunions.”

Mr Isbell added the project finished in the last six months with an investment of over US$1million.

Interestingly the resort has been investing in a huge rainwater harvesting resevoir, a state of the art low-tech wastewater treatment facility and in the reuse or recylcing of solid waste and the disposal of the remainder at a property managed landfill.

“In a resort we need to keep everything upgraded and we have always been updating our waste management systems with improvement in technology,” he added.

Furthermore, the resort has also launched their new uniform two weeks ago.

“We constantly change our uniforms. Right before we have big contests we always issue new ones, just to keep things fresh.”

The resort was recognised as the Most Exotic Beach in the 2014 Best Beach Award by US-based The Travel Channel.
