Residents of Links Lane 25 in Ba can now enjoy clean, safe and consistent water supply. Twenty-two families in the area are going to benefit from direct water after the main pipeline was extended into the area by the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF).

The advisory counsellor, Malkeet Singh, said: “Residents had been facing a lot of difficulties with intermittent supply and mostly had to go without water for days in the past and they approached WAF to seek help in 2015.”

Mr Singh said after a series of meetings with WAF, things turned in their favour. Following Tropical Cyclone Winston, water supply in the area went from bad to worse and the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama on his visit to Links Lane 25 had assured the residents that the problem would be fixed as it was the FijiFirst Government’s desire to supply all residents with clean and safe water.

Mr Singh said that works started earlier this month extending the water mains from the main line to about 400 metres to cater for the need of residents.

“So far 22 out of the 28 homes have shown a keen interest and are in the process of filling their application forms with the WAF in Ba to get water into their homes,” he added. Links Lane 25 residents are thankful to the Government, the Prime Minister, Minister for Local Government and Infrastructure Praveen Bala, and the WAF chief executive officer Opetaia Ravai and his hard working team from the Project Division in getting this project completed.
