Ex-bank staff pleads guilty to $190,000 transfer

A former BSP staff charged with 19 counts each of obtaining a financial advantage will be sentenced on July 12. The matter was called before Magistrate Waleen George at the Suva Magistrate­s Court yesterday. Paulo Tevita, 29, who was the local payment officer, pleaded guilty to all the 19 counts.

Between June 15, 2016 and August 31, 2016 at Suva, Tevita ,who was a bank officer transferre­d a total of $190,109.19 into his sister’s BSP account, which he had access to.

The State was represente­d by Police Prosecutor Sergeant Mohammed Farook. The case has been adjourned to July 12, for sentencing.
