The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) has extended the nationwide voter registration drive by one more week.

This was confirmed yesterday by the public relations officer for FEO, Edwin Nand.

“FEO has decided to extend the 2017 nationwide voter registration drive by one more week due to the increased interest we have seen from Fijians,” Mr Nand said.

“The registration was scheduled to end on July first but now it will end on July 8th, 2017.”

He added: “The registration drive has been well received by voters.

“The voter registration drive which is now in its sixth week has already resulted in 152,092 from the four divisions.”

The FEO team is also conducting mobile voter registration. “At the people’s convenience we can be at their office. They can take out a few minutes, do their registration, check their voter details and go back to work,” Mr Nand said.

“We also have teams which cater for voters with disabilities.

“If you can’t leave your home or can’t attend one of the registration centres, we will make the effort to go to your house, to ensure that you are registered.”
