Bhatnagar, Koroivueta pay special visit

Assistant Minister for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviatio­n, Veena Bhatnagar and Permanent Secretary, Dr Josefa Koroivueta made a special surprise visit the Samabula Old People’s Homes on Tuesday.

It was a special day for the residents of as they celebrated Eid Mubarak.

Ms Bhatnagar said: “You the senior citizens we value and we have not forgotten your contributi­ons to the developmen­t of this nation.

Dr Koroivueta said the spirit of Eid shows there is hope in Fiji to make a big difference on how we should take care of each other.

“It is a time to reflect on how we Fijians need to value our faiths, culture, heritage, and social norms,

He said we respect everybody’s beliefs and we make it a point to celebrate all the religious events.

“Violence against children, senior citizens, and people with disabiliti­es is against humanity,” he said.

He added as a Ministry they call on everybody to unite together to stamp out all forms of violence so that our children can propel forward to build a peaceful Fiji.
