Mixed reactions on big fight

Former boxing official Mostafa Khattab said Sebastian Singh must use his reach well if he intends to trouble Junior Farzan Ali during their 10-round clash at Prince Charles Park, Nadi tomorrow. “For Sebastian if he wants to win the game my advice to him he has to stand faraway and avoid mixing it up with Farzan who is shorter but has a lot of experience. It’s going to be a great fight and may the best boxer wins.”

When contacted, Jittu Boxing Stable trainer Marika Yalimaiwai said the fittest boxer will survive.

“It’s going to be an explosive fight,” Yalimaiwai who recently returned from Australia said.

“This fight is good for boxing in the country but I always believe that the best prepared boxer is going to survive.” Yalimaiwai said Singh is young has very good skills and is going to fight a veteran like Farzan who is a survivor.

He has called on boxing fans and those wanting to take up boxing to be at Prince Charles Park, on Friday to watch two of the country’s best pound-to-pound boxers fight it out.

Meanwhile, veteran middleweight boxer Tevita Ligaitukuna is betting on Farzan to knock out Singh.

“This is the first time Sebastian is fighting an experienced boxer who is going to stand toe-to-toe with him,” he said.

“Sebastian fought Etuate Kofi and Waisele Ratu who were already way past their best. Farzan fought them when they were in their prime. To me that’s the difference,” he added.
