Hill qualifies for world champs

Pizza King & Wishbone national amateur boxer Winston Hill has qualified for the AIBA World Boxing Championship in Germany in August.

This was after Hill outpointed New Zealand’s Leroy Hindley in the welterweight division’s semifinal of the 2017 Oceania Championship in Gold Coast, Australia yesterday.

Hill is now billed to take on Andrew Hunt of Australia in the final.

Boxing Fiji president Manasa Baravilala said the Oceania Championship is the qualifier for the World Championship.

“Hill needs to win a silver or gold to qualify for the World Championship,” he added.
