Students Perform Role Play To Warn About Drugs

Holy Trinity Anglican School performed role plays on uses of drugs and their effects in their daily lives to mark Drug Awareness Day yesterday.

Head teacher, Sunia Lesivou summed it up by reminding the students that now that they know that drugs are not good they should help others know also.

“Parents, guardians and teachers play a very important role and help you along the way but at times temptations exceed over all these advice so you go the wrong way which leads to drugs,” Mr Lesivou told the students.

“You have to be careful with your friends because peer pressure pushes students and young people to take drugs.

“It is not easy to say no to your peers and have a healthy future.

“I told the students to stay away from drugs as their future and your health are more important. “Take care of your health and your life,” Mr Lesivou stressed to the students. Year Eight student, Aggie Tabualailai, 13, of Namara, Tailevu, said it was vital for every young child and adult to know about drugs and how they can control the lives of many if abused.

“Our life is precious and we only get one chance to live,” Ms Tabualailai said.

“I believe that every child should know about drugs and its effects from a young age, from their parents and teachers.

“Drugs which are referred to are alcohol and tobacco which most of our family members are consuming. “There could be many issues that could lead an individual to drugs but we have to keep our will power strong and say no to drugs,” she said.
