Fun Factory for children to open in Lautoka today at Rajendra’s Westfield
Fiji’s biggest care centre for children will open in Lautoka today.
Fun Factory will open its doors this morning at Rajendra’s Westfield building, opposite the Lautoka bus station.
The new centre will come as a relief to parents who need a safe place for their children and at the same time a place where there are heaps of stuff for them to play with.
Fun factory is a family business, led by George Dansey, his wife Lagakali and daughters Olive and Lavenia who has invested close to $54,000 in the project.
Mr Dansey was happy, after seeing the set up of the place, that he had changed his mind after collecting his Fiji National Provident Fund retirement money.
“My plan was to build a house on a piece of land that I have in Nadi and do some farming with my wife,” Mr Dansey said. However, Olive, who will manage the centre, managed to convince him to invest in this project. “Olive used to work for Fun Factory on Denarau Island and when they decided to sell the business, she was given the first chance to buy it.”
The fully air conditioned centre can cater for up to 45 children.
“Mainly this place is set up to give parents free time to do their shopping, or go out for dinners or movies or attend functions and.”
“All they do is leave their children here and we will look after them.” The centre has numerous children’s activities set up and they would be supervised by seven staff members including Olive Dansey.
“We will cater for children from six months to 12 years and we have two costs for the toddlers who want to sleep.”
Activities include ball pits, tunnels, climbing walls, trampoline, toddlers section, slides, guns, volcano machines and a television screen if some kids would like to sit and watch cartoons.
There are also tables where children could sit around and do drawings or colouring.
Ms Dansey said the centre could also host birthday parties and preschool parties and also if these schools would like to hire the place for a day for their children.
Charges for leaving the children and toddlers there are - $13.50 per child for the whole day which
includes one hour baby sitting, $4 an hour per child. However Ms Dansey said as part of its opening specials, they have dropped the daily rate to $10 until this Saturday.
“Parents of Lautoka, if you need to leave your children somewhere safe and who will have a lot of activities for them to do, Fun factory is where you need to bring them to,” she said.
