Parents Reminded ‘Be Aware’ In Film Fiji And Fijian Made Kula Awards
Bhawani Dayal Arya College of Nakasi is set to rock the stage at this week’s Film Fiji and Fijian Made Awards. Year 13 Student director, Shagar Sharma said their film is titled Parents be Aware. The film is based on how conflicts between parents can affect their children.
The main character’s name is Vueti whose parents are always fighting and this affects his school work and studies.
“The scene setting are in a school and home. At times the actions and words spoken by parents can affect their children,” Mr Sharma said.
Mr Sharma said the main message the school wanted to portray was for parents to be aware of their actions and words. “They must always encourage their children no matter what,” he said.
The five minute film features 15 students in the cast.
The college is confident that they can scoop the awards this weekend.
Year 11 student Avneel Prasad, 17, is one of two students taking part at the Fiji Airways Art Awards from the school.
His painting depicts the theme: “Children of the Sun” where he painted the earth from space symbolising that without the sun the earth cannot survive.
Year 11 student, Shavneel Singh, 16, painted the sun symbolising Mother Nature holding the children as a sign of protection.
“It took me two nights to finish the art work and painting for me is a hobby,” Mr Singh said. Over 1000 students from 31 secondary schools in Fiji will be part of the event this weekend. 24 schools will be part of the Film, 15 in Dance and 25 in Art competition during the two day event. The Film Fiji and Fijian Made Kula Awards and the Fiji Airways Art Awards will be held tomorrow at the Village 6 Vmax Cinema at Damodar City, Laucala Bay. The Fiji Link Dance Competition will be held on Saturday at the Vodafone Arena, Suva. Tickets are on sale for $2 at any Damodar Cinema outlet around Fiji.
