Working Hard Pays: Kolinisau
Suva Methodist Primary School rugby and netball players were reminded of the importance of working hard.
The R.C Manubhai-sponsored teams won the Under-9, U10 and U11 grades as well as the Teivovo Trophy for the overall winner in the Suva Kaji Rugby competition. They were rewarded for their effort on Friday night. Former student and Vodafone Fijian 7s captain Osea Kolinisau said rugby could become a career option for players.
“Being back in my old school brings back a lot of memories,” Kolinisau said.
“I am glad to be back and I thank the parents and the teachers for inviting me to be part of a special night.
“I think some of these kids will be the future stars of Fiji, there might be a William Ryder or a Waisele Serevi sitting among us. “Never lose your dream and your passion to play rugby, following your heart towards what you truly want is what will make you different compared to others who just do it for the sake of money or fame. “What I found out and have experienced in life is that hard work will take you further and that it is not only about having the talent but actually maintaining it and becoming better, improving every day.” Head teacher Keni Turagabeci said Kolinisau’s presence is a reminder to the children of the importance of working hard. Despite competing in three grades, the school managed to win all three grades and the netters have done well to win the Suva competition with the help of hardware company R.C Manubhai who donated more than $2000 worth of sports gear. “I think having awards night is a way of encouraging good behaviour and acknowledging and encouraging students,” Turagabeci said. “This is not about honouring the students who have done exceptionally well in sports but to honour discipline both on and off the field. “None of this would have been possible without the help from R.C Manubhai who are our major sponsors.”
Their support at the beginning of the competition is what boosted our ruggers and netters to perform well.
