Ba score comeback win

- KATHRIN KRISHNA Edited by Leone Cabenatabua

The 4R Electrical Ba football team never let their fans down as they fought back to beat Nadi 2-1 in the Vodafone Premier League clash at Govind Park, Ba yesterday.

What happened: It was the visitors who drew first blood in the 10th minute when striker Andrew Naicker slotted in the first goal.

Backed by their vocal fans, Ba fought hard in trying to find the equaliser but it was to no avail as the Nadi defence stood tall.

Half time: Nadi 1-0 Ba.

In the second spell it was all Ba as they took control and bombarded the Nadi goal. Continuous pressure paid off when they scored the equaliser through defender Laisenia Raura. The hosts upped the pressure and the Nadi defence buckled allowing striker Saula Waqa to

slam in their second goal as they led 2-1 to the delight of their fans.

Comments: Ba manager Arvind Singh said: “Nadi is a very experienced team and Ba is a young team. I’m happy with the win. We played according to the game plan. I urge Ba fans to keep supporting the team as they will improve from game to game. Next week we play Suva and I want fans to come out in numbers to show their support.”

Nadi coach Viliame Tora said: “It’s disappointing that the boys did not follow the game plan. We did not train well and some of the boys are still injured from the Battle of Giants tournament.

“Again I’m disappointed with the result but I congratulate Ba for their hard work.”
