Australian motorbike stunt rider Robert William ‘Robbie’ Maddison departs today after spending a few days exploring our shore. The star arrived into the country with his team of five personnel including his mechanic and media on Friday.

Yesterday the 36-year-old was joined by the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Faiyaz Koya at Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi bike riding.

Mr Koya is a motocycle owner and enthusiast himself.

Mr Maddison said, “When I was a child I saw Fiji on a magazine before the internet and thought it would not be real, then I later realised it is real so I wanted to come here one day.

“This is my first time to be here, the goal when I built this ride was to get barrel in the waves. I have seen all the waves in the world and cloudbreak is the one. And I want to come here on the right time and the right wave to realise my dream.”

Since his arrival he has travelled around Nadi, towards Momi, Nadroga and to Tavarua Island Resort.

“I want to move here, I love it, it is paradise, beautiful,” he added.

Mr Maddison said he will return in two weeks and ride waves at Cloudbreak. Meanwhile, Mr Koya said Fiji is increasingly known as the tourism destination for wonderful things including sports.

Mr Maddison has developed his passion for riding by competing in national motocross and super cross events.
