Fiji attended the 54th Directors General of Civil Aviation Conference held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from August 7 to 11, 2017.

Fiji’s Head of Delegation Jan Sherani was voted as vice chairperson who led an eight member team to the conference from the Attorney General’s Office, Department of Civil Aviation and Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji.

Over 299 delegates and representatives from 34 states, two administrations and 11 international organisations attended the Conference where a number of regional aviation issues were discussed and deliberated on.

Fiji will now host the 2018 DGCA Conference in Nadi from October 22 to 26 next year on the theme “Collaboration and Harmonisation for a Safe, Secure and Sustainable Aviation in the Asia Pacific Region”.

The International Civil Aviation Organisation Secretary General, Dr Fang Liu and Regional Director, Arun Mishra, highlighted the importance of the Conference in bringing together the aviation community to share experiences and provide solutions for the progress of international civil aviation.

The conference will present an excellent opportunity for Fiji to display its aviation and tourism sectors to the international community and promote Fiji as an aviation hub in the Pacific.
