Queen Victoria School are confident of defending the Coke Zero Deans Under-18 title when they play Ratu Kadavulevu School in the final at the ANZ Stadium on Saturday at 5:30pm.

The Victorians survived a close encounter against St John’s College 15-13 during the semifinal last weekend while the Delainakaikai boys defeated Cuvu College 23- 12.

QVS principal Seru Banuve said they anticipate a tough final. “Preparations are on track and the boys can’t wait to take on the field,” Banuve said. “Despite sustaining some minor injuries in the semifinal, the boys have recovered well before the big game.

“We have met RKS a number of times this season but this is the main ball game. “This year we have three grades qualifying for the final, Under 14, U15 and U18 and we’re hopeful to win in all grades.

“We would like to thank all the parents, teachers and ex-scholars for their endless support throughout this season as look forward to a great match this Saturday” Meanwhile, RKS principal Peni Senikarawa aims to create history as they want to win all the final grades in the Coke Zero Deans Trophy.

“This is the first time since 1994 that RKS has qualified in all the grades which is a milestone achievement for the school,” Senikarawa said.

“We are really happy to be in the final of the Deans after a really tough match last week.

“Going up against QVS will not be an easy battle for us but I have faith in the boys to make us proud.

“The last time we won the Under 18 grade was back in 2015 and the most trophies we won was two. So this weekend we will be a very important weekend for us.

“The motivation for the U-18 team and all grades for that matter is exactly that qualifying for all the grades.

“We know all teams want to win but we want it more and we want to create history either by winning all grades or winning more than two grades” 9am: Under14; RKS-QVS; 10:15
