Plastic Bag Guarantee

-

Lautoka

Though the 10 cents levy is being imposed on the above, consumers are still buying the plastics. There would be many who feel they can afford it. Now the question is, what guarantee is there that these plastic bags will not be harming our environment?

One way or another the same plastic bags will be seen around the place, in our rivers and the sea. No matter how careful one is with it, it will have an impact on our environment in one way or another.

Who says the people who can afford to buy the plastic bags are actually the responsible consumers who will spare a thought for our environment. I, myself, prefer plastic bags while shopping but my point is, as long as it will be available, people will opt for it. I really doubt this so called levy is going to make much difference.

Let's just hope the authorities come up with some other options that seem realistic and can actually work. On the other side, the E-ticketing system is also something to ponder about. Changing scenarios are not the issue here but how much it works and how successful it will be, is what matters. have with public property, the apparent resentment toward others' private property and the sheer malice displayed in some cases is hugely detrimental to the efforts of Government and private entities to beautify our country and modernise public infrastructure.

There is a need to purge such attitudes, and inculcate civic pride in our people.
